We use Radiesse and Ellanse which are both “bio-stimulating” dermal fillers. This means that they have an immediate action (correction of wrinkles, folds, and contours) as well as providing a long-term action through collagen stimulation. The longevity of both fillers depends on the individual and will depend on age, skin type, lifestyle, metabolism, and the area being treated.
Radiesse is made of a gel-like matrix of calcium microspheres, correcting contour deficits and lifting the skin. The calcium microspheres stimulate the production of collagen and enhance skin quality. Calcium hydroxyapatite is naturally present in the body. Radiesse can be effective in most parts of the mid and lower face. It allows for immediate plumping and the ability to improve the skin’s structure. It can also be used for plumping the back of the hands. Please note that Radiesse is contra-indicated for patients with severe allergies.
Ellanse is made of Polycaprolactone (PCL) microspheres and Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) in a gel carrier; this product is a man-made polymer that does not harm the body and can be naturally broken down. This filler produces immediate Facial volumisation and has long-term benefits due to its ability to produce collagen and is thus addressing underlying causes of facial ageing. Ellanse can be used in most parts of the face.
Like all medical treatments, you may experience common side effects like redness, bruising, swelling, itching and slight discomfort. These will usually subside quickly. One has to be mindful that these fillers cannot be dissolved but are eliminated from the body in time
During the initial consultation, you'll discuss your goals, expectations, and medical history with us. We will assess your lip structure and determine the appropriate treatment plan for you.
Before the procedure, the area will be cleansed, and a topical numbing cream or local anaesthetic may be applied to ensure your comfort during the injections.
The chosen filler will be carefully injected into specific areas of your face. We will strategically place the filler to achieve the desired volume, shape, and symmetry. After the injections, we may gently massage or mould the filler to ensure an even distribution and natural-looking result.
The majority of lip fillers consist of a synthetic version of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a naturally occurring molecule that adds volume to your skin. The dermal fillers we use for lip enhancement treatments give your lips a soft, natural feel. These dermal fillers tend to be kind on your lips and result in minimal swelling.
We can use dermal fillers to enhance your lips in the following ways:
When you come into the clinic for this treatment, we will cleanse your face before applying an anaesthetic cream to ensure that you feel as comfortable as possible during the procedure. Dr. Tschoepe will inject small amounts of dermal fillers into your lips or the surrounding areas using micro-fine needles.
You should see the results of your lip enhancement treatment immediately. Because your lips are delicate, you may notice some swelling, bruising, redness or itchiness, but for most people this resolves within 12-48 hours.
To maintain your look, you may need to visit us for a top-up treatment after six to twelve months.
The dermal fillers we use at Mouth Matters have a proven safety record and offer long-lasting but non-permanent results. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers can also be reversed. We are skilled and experienced in the delivery of dermal fillers and you are in safe hands.
After a lip enhancement treatment, you may experience some mild bruising at the injection sites, which can take two to three days to vanish. Inevitably, the more injections you have, the higher your chance of some visible bruising. That being said, dermal fillers designed especially for use in and around the lip area do tend to be soft and less prone to bruising.
Some people also experience temporary redness, swelling, itching or discomfort. It’s fairly common for the treatment area to look slightly discoloured, but again, this should resolve within a few days. Choosing an experienced practitioner like Dr. Tschoepe who has a proven history of successful treatments is important to minimise the risk of side effects.
Your skin may look red and swollen or feel tender and itchy immediately after your treatment. You should avoid touching the treated area for at least six hours, after which you can apply light make-up and gently wash your face with soap and water. We recommend that you wear a high factor sunblock (SPF 30 or above) and avoid sun exposure.
You should steer clear of extreme temperatures until the initial swelling and redness have resolved – this means no saunas, sunbathing, solariums or extreme cold. We will give you more detailed aftercare instructions when you have your treatment, so you know exactly what to expect and how to follow our recommendations for the best outcomes.
Lip fillers are great for adding volume, plumping thin lips, enhancing the lip border, and improving symmetry. However, they may not be suitable for addressing deeper wrinkles around the mouth.
